Filigree
“I was pirouette and flourish, I was filigree and flame…”
– Rita Dove
Filigree, named for an ancient technique of metal cutwork, is likewise proof that beauty is sometimes a result of delicate reduction. Despite her opulent proportions, the Filigree gown is breathtakingly light and full of movement, owing to the careful architecture of her skirt that gives volume without unnecessary weight. The bodice is wrapped in continuous lace and chiselled out to allow balance between motifs and the glowing layers of negative space between them.
A perfect balance of grandeur and ease, it speaks to the precision for which we are known. Not one stitch more, or one stitch less, than is required.
